Zebra Carpet Python

The Zebra mutation is an incomplete dominant trait of the Jungle python.

The intermediate heterozygous form of the mutation is expressed as very intricately marked animal . When the visual intermediate heterozygous form is paired to another visual intermediate heterozygous form, a patternless visual homozygous form is yielded.

These patternless carpet pythons have been found to suffer from tail defects. It seems that unrelated outcrossing of these animals could be responsible for a reduction in these tail defects.
